Autumn leaf fall - Changes to train times

From 28 September, some minor changes will be made to our timetable, as summarised below.

This is due to fallen leaves being crushed on the tracks by passing trains which forms a slippery coat over the line, creating a similar effect as black ice. This means our drivers have to approach stations more slowly than normal and the train may be slower pulling away.

Network Rail runs special rail-cleaning trains that helps reduce this problem, but all the time leaves fall, this problem will never completely disappear. The leaf fall period lasts from late September to early December.
These alterations will help us run our network on time in spite of the slower journeys leaf fall can cause.
